REPORT ON MAKAR SANKRANTI
DATE: 14th JANUARY, 2023 VENUE: MULTIPURPOSE ROOM TIME: 11:30 a.m. Makar Sankranti is a festival that is celebrated annually in India and Nepal. It is also known as the festival of harvest, and marks the beginning of the harvest season in the country. The festival is observed on January 14th every year, or sometimes on January 15th, depending on the Hindu calendar. Makar Sankranti is one of the most important festivals in the Hindu calendar, and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour across the country. The festival is dedicated to the Sun God, and is believed to mark the transition of the Sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makar Rashi) on its celestial path. Hence, the festival is named Makar Sankranti, where “Makar” means Capricorn, and “Sankranti” means transition.
Objectives of celebrating Makar Sankranti:
Celebrating the arrival of spring: Makar Sankranti is celebrated when the sun moves into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makar). This marks the beginning of longer days and shorter nights, signifying the arrival of spring. Honouring the sun god: The festival is also celebrated to honour Surya Dev, the sun god, and seek his blessings for a prosperous year ahead. Expressing gratitude: Makar Sankranti is a time to express gratitude for the harvest and offer thanks to the gods for a good crop. The students of F.Y.B. Ed of ‘Royal College of Education and Research for Women’ organized ‘Makar Sankranti’ celebration on 14th January, 2023. The day began with a morning prayer, prayer song followed with a lightening of lamp. After that there was an informative paper reading which focused on five different states: – Punjab, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. We got an insight information about how Makar Sankranti is celebrated in these five states followed with dance, skit and song performed by different houses representing their respective state. The celebration ended with our principal ma’am Prof. Dr. Judy Grace Andrews, addressing the class by telling us the importance of this festival and appreciating all the FY.B. Ed students for their active participation in this programme. Celebrations are perceived as important part of education as they can help to create a sense of national or cultural community among the students. It helps in eradicating prejudice by spreading knowledge about different cultures and religion. It also gives an idea to students to conduct co-curricular activities successfully. The event ended with National anthem. The Makar Sankranti celebration organized by the students of F.Y.B. Ed of ‘Royal College of Education and Research for Women’ on January 14th, 2023 the post learning outcome are as follows:
  1. Knowledge of Makar Sankranti: The students gained knowledge about the Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti, its significance, and how it is celebrated in different states of India. This helped in increasing their understanding and appreciation of the cultural diversity of India.
  2. Information sharing: The informative paper reading and performances by different houses representing their respective states provided a platform for students to share information about different cultures and traditions. This helped in eradicating prejudice and promoting tolerance and respect for different cultures.
  3. Teamwork and co-curricular activities: The celebration involved different activities such as dance, skit, and song performed by different houses, which required teamwork and coordination. This helped in developing teamwork skills and provided an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and skills.
  4. Appreciation and motivation: The address by the principal, appreciating the students for their active participation in the celebration, provided motivation and encouragement to the students to continue to actively participate in co-curricular activities

REPORT ON ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
DATE: 17th February, 2023 VENUE: Royal College Campus TIME: 7:30 a.m. Onwards Sports Day is an event where people participate in various physical activities and competitions to showcase their athletic abilities. It is typically held in schools, colleges, and universities, as well as in some communities and organizations. Participants compete against each other to achieve the best time, distance or score in their respective events. Sports Day is not only about physical competition but also about promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy living. It provides an opportunity for people to develop their physical and mental abilities, improve their fitness, and enhance their social skills through interactions with other participants. Sports Day is usually held annually, and it is a highly anticipated event for many individuals and groups. It is a great way to bring people together, promote physical fitness and healthy competition, and encourage individuals to strive for excellence in their athletic endeavours. Sports day is typically organized to achieve the following objectives: Promote Physical Fitness: Sports day encourages individuals to engage in physical activity and improve their fitness levels. Enhance Team Spirit: Sports day provides an opportunity for individuals to work together as a team, develop a sense of camaraderie, and enhance their team spirit. Develop Leadership and Organizational Skills: Sports day offers a platform for individuals to take up leadership roles and develop organizational skills. Encourage Participation: Sports day encourages participation from individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Instil Values: Sports day helps inculcate values such as discipline, perseverance, determination, and sportsmanship among individuals. Promote Overall Development: Sports day contributes to the overall development of an individual by enhancing physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Formerly, we were oriented about the sports day programme. Later, on 30th December time was given for us to practice for the sport’s events (including March-past) that was going to be held on Sports day. Indoor games like chess, carom, table tennis and outdoor games like telecoil, skipping, badminton, shot put, and throw ball were held on 14th January. Semi finale for all these events was held on 21th January and finale on 28th January. The students of Royal College conducted the Sports event on 17th February 2023. The Opening ceremony of the Sports event started with a welcome speech followed by march-past, in which students of all the houses, dressed in their respective uniforms, marched around the field to the sound of drums and music. The chief guest for the event was our college principal, who was accompanied by other teachers. The Principal then addressed the students and wished them good luck, the beginning of the event was marked by the lightning of the torch by the CR and A.CR. Followed by Oath ceremony conducted by all the houses. The sports day had a wide range of events, including skipping, marble and spoon, race (40 m), relay (80 m) and tug-of-war. The students had been practicing for weeks leading up to the event, and their hard work paid off as they put up impressive performances in all the events. The crowd jubilated in cheers as the students performed lezim. The winners were felicitated with medals and certificates. The sports day ended with a closing ceremony, in which the principal addressed the students and congratulated them on their performances, also thanked the students and teachers for their hard work in organizing the event. The programme ended with the National Anthem. In conclusion, the event not only showcased the athletic abilities of the students but also fostered a sense of team spirit. It was a day that will be remembered by all those who participated and witnessed it. The Sports day celebration organized by the students of F.Y.B.Ed. and S.Y.B.Ed. of ‘Royal college of education and research for women’ on February 17th, 2023, the post learning outcomes are as follows:
  1. Inculcate true spirit of healthy competition: Sports day inculcated the true spirit of healthy competition amongst all the participants and the non-participants. Thus, creating a healthy environment for all during the sports events.
  2. Fitness development and identification of talent: Sports helps in developing fitness so by actively participating in the events student’s developed fitness and new talents were catered.
  3. Sportsman ship: Fairness, respect for one’s opponent, and graciousness in winning or losing were things looked forward for. Resulting into success of the sports day.
  4. Appreciation and motivation: The address and appreciation of the principle, teacher’s and peers helped the students to actively participate in all events.

Report on Eid-Al-Fitr
Eid al-Fitr (Festival of Breaking Fast) is the first of two canonical festivals of Islam. Eidal-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting, and is celebrated during the first three days of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic calendar. It is forbidden to fast on the Day of Eid, and a specific prayer is nominated for this day. Zakat-ul-Fitr is also donated on thisday, which is compulsory. It is the responsibility of the head of the household to ensure this is paid accordingly. It is usually given prior to the Eid prayers. The significance of this is to ensure those in need of help are provided for and are given the opportunity to celebrate Eid as well.
Objectives of celebrating Festivals in academics:
  • There are many special days and festivals celebrated throughout the world but celebrating a festival in a school with friends and teachers is a very special thing for any child.
  • A festival is an occasion of enjoyment and celebration which promotes a child’s social interaction and harmony.
  • As you learn to celebrate each other’s festival, you will develop a sense of togetherness with other people worldwide.
The students of B.Ed of Royal College of Education and Research for Women organized the celebration of Eid on 25th April, 2023. The celebration was hosted by Sayyed Ayesha and Khan shagufta from SY.B.Ed it started by welcoming our Principal ma’am and all the Professors. The event began by seeking blessings fromthe almighty through the morning prayer and prayer song. To explain the significance of the festival of Eid an informative paper reading was done by a student of FY.B.Ed Shama Shah which beautifully explained the rituals performed on the day of Eid. Naʽat a form of poetry in praise of the Islamic prophet, Muhammad was melodiously recited by the students of FY B.Ed Misba Baig and Seema Ansari Followed by the dance performances done by the students of FY B.Ed which added more grace to the celebration.The celebration was concluded by an energetic musical performance of Sufi Qawwali performed by the FY B.Ed students. The event gave all of us aninsight of how the festival of Eid is celebrated and the significance of the day. The celebration ended with our principal ma’am Dr.Judy Grace Andrews , addressing the class by telling us the importance of leaving in peace,harmony and appreciating all the FY.B.Ed students for their active participation in the event. The event ended with the National Anthem. The post learning outcomes from theEid-ul-Fitr celebration organized by the students of FY.B.Ed. of Royal College of Education And Research For Women can be as follow: Importance of celebrating festivals :Festivals are a great way to understand one’s culture. They make us forget our cultural and religious differences. They unite people and they come together for the sole purpose of celebration and happiness. Other than that, festivals also help us embrace our culture and religion. They are very helpful in breaking the monotony of life. Knowledge of Eid celebration: All the students acquired information about the Muslim festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, its significance, its importance and all the rituals performed on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr. Cooperation and Teamwork: Teamwork and collaboration are the ability to work with others on a common task. It’s about taking actions that respect the needs and contributions of others. It’s also about contributing to and accepting the consensus and negotiating a solution to achieve the objectives of the team which was seen in the various performances like Dance, Qawwali and Naat. Coordination is the major aspect for the success of any event. Feedback and motivation: The principal’s message plays a very vital role as the appreciation for the active participation and the efforts motivates us allto continue the hard work and encouragement to the students to continue to actively participate in co-curricularactivities.

REPORT ON GUDI PADWA
DATE: 01st APRIL, 2023 VENUE: MULTIPURPOSE ROOM
Gudi Padwa, also known as Samvatsar Padvo, is a significant festival celebrated by people of Maharashtra, India. It marks the beginning of the new year according to the Hindu lunisolar calendar, and usually falls in the months of March or April, on the first day of the Chaitra month. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and is an occasion for family gatherings, feasting, and cultural events.
The festival is a symbol of hope, renewal, and prosperity. On this day, people decorate their homes with colorful rangolis and torans made of mango leaves. They hoist a Gudi (a flag-like structure made of a bamboo stick, adorned with a bright cloth and an inverted copper or silver pot) outside their homes. The Gudi is considered an auspicious symbol and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to the household. Objective to celebrate festivals in academics Celebrations are perceived as important part of education as they can help to create a sense of national or cultural community among the students. Ed of ‘Royal College of Education and Research for Women’ organized “Gudi Padwa “celebration on 01st April, 2023. The day began with by welcoming our Principal mam and Professors with traditional haldi Kumkum and lezium dance on entrance. The event began with a morning prayer and prayer song. After that Gudi Pujan was performed by our principal and teachers. The significance of Gudi Padwa was explained and informative paper reading was done by Vedika Aer and Simran Mhatre. To add grace to the event the traditional Lezium performance was given by the students of S.Y.B.Ed. The celebration ended with our Principal mam Prof. Dr. Judy Grace Andrews addressing the class by telling the importance of the festival and appreciating for participation of all the students who worked actively for backdrop and performance in this program. The event ended with National Anthem. The post-learning outcomes from the Gudi Padwa celebration organized by the B. Ed students of Royal College of Education and Research for Women can be as follows: Increased cultural awareness: The celebration of Gudi Padwa helped the students to understand the cultural and historical significance of the festival. It enabled them to appreciate the customs and traditions associated with the festival and develop a deeper understanding of the culture and heritage of Maharashtra. 2. Enhanced co-curricular skills: The students actively participated in organizing and performing various cultural activities such as traditional dances, paper reading, and Gudi Pujan. These activities helped them to develop their leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills. 3. Improved inter-personal skills: The celebration of the festival provided an opportunity for the students to interact and collaborate with their peers, teachers, and other stakeholders. This helped them to improve their communication, networking, and relationship-building skills. 4. Promoted inclusivity and diversity: The celebration of Gudi Padwa helped in promoting the values of inclusivity and diversity by spreading knowledge about different cultures and religions. It encouraged the students to appreciate and respect the diversity of cultures and traditions. 5. Fostered a sense of community: The celebration of the festival helped to create a sense of community and belongingness among the students. It enabled them to connect with their peers and teachers and develop a sense of identity and pride in their cultural heritage. Overall, the celebration of Gudi Padwa in the academic context can be seen as an effective way to promote cultural and social awareness, enhance co-curricular skills, and foster a sense of community among the students.

REPORT ON FAREWELL
A farewell is a special event organized to bid farewell to someone who is leaving or moving away. It is a way to celebrate and honor their presence, contributions, and the memories shared with them. Farewell events are typically filled with a mixture of emotions, including happiness, nostalgia, and sometimes sadness.
Objectives to organize farewell event in academics:
  • Celebrating achievements: The farewell event should serve as a platform to celebrate the academic achievements of the departing students, acknowledging their hard work, dedication, and accomplishments throughout their academic journey.
  • Recognizing contributions :The event should provide an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the contributions of the departing students to the academic institution, whether through leadership roles, involvement in extracurricular activities, or other forms of participation that have positively impacted the institution and fellow students.
  • Creating a sense of closure: Farewell events in academics mark the end of a significant chapter in students’ lives. The objective is to provide closure and help students transition to the next phase of their educational or professional journey. It should be a moment for reflection , reminiscence , and closure on their time spent in the academic institution.
The students of F.Y.B. Ed organized a farewell event for the S.Y.B. Ed students with the help of teacher incharge Prof. Dr. Jaswanti Adhangale and Prof. Joya Chaudhari. The event was planned with backdrop design, dance performances, shayari and year book memory flashback. The event started sharp at 11.30 a.m. welcoming each and every student with roses and lighting lamp, praying almighty with welcome speech and group dance as well as solo dance performance and some fun games were arranged. Later the students from S.Y.B. Ed shared their academic experience they gained from course as well as some of their personal experiences. Each and every students were awarded with badges based on their talents and creativity. At the end of the event the class was addressed by Principal and the Candle ceremony was conducted where the light of knowledge was shared by Principal Mam and teachers to students. The event ended with vote of thanks and national anthem. The farewell event organized by the F.Y.B. Ed students for the S.Y.B. Ed students, the post-learning outcomes are:
  • Gratitude and appreciation for the educational institution: Through the farewell event, the departing students and attendees had the chance to express their gratitude and appreciation for the academic institution and the education they received .This sense of gratitude can instill a deeper connection with the institution and a positive attitude towards educationin general.
  • Cultural and artistic expression: The inclusion of dance performances, shayari, and the yearbook memory flashback allowed students to showcase their cultural and artistic talents. The event provided a platform for creativity, self-expression, and the appreciation of various art forms.
Increased sense of appreciation and recognition: The farewell event, with its various elements such as dance performances, shayari, and yearbook memory flashback, aimed to celebrate and honor the departing S.Y.B.Ed students.This could have fostered a greater sense of appreciation and recognition among the students for their academic achievement sand contributions to the institution. Having “You” As My Friend Is a Sign of Ganesha’s Blessings!

Ganesh Chaturthi’ is a Festival that celebrates the birth of the Hindu Lord ‘Ganesh’ and lasts for 10 days in the ‘Bhadrapada masa’. Lord Ganesh’s idol are installed in both private homes as well as public pandals during these days. Vedic hymn chanting, prayers, fasting are all done with great devotion and belief that the Lord will remove all the obstacles and troubles from life. One can hear the chant “Ganapati Bappa Morya” many times a day and the bhajans being played throughout the day to maintain the holy ambience and festive mood. Everyone takes part in this festival with utmost fervor, and love and respect for their beloved Lord GANESHA.

On 9th September 2022, on the occasion of Anant Chaturdashi the students of the B. ED Department of the college, under the guidance of their professors had organized a special assembly.

The hosts Ms. Khadijah and Ms. Bushra welcomed Respected Principal Ma’am, professors and students with a heartwarming speech on the occasion. The assembly commenced with the recitation of the Morning Prayer by the class choir group.

The singing group then sang a melodious medley of Ganesh, bhajans and songs which changed the whole atmosphere into one filled with great reverence. The Paper Reading on Ganesh Chaturthi was done by Ms. Jyothika who spoke about the significance of the festival and the way it is celebrated all around the country. She also discussed the adverse effects of the immersion of the murtis on the environment and how one could make use of eco-friendly murtis like the ‘Tree Ganesha’ instead to help protect it. It was a very informative session.

Towards the end of the program, the dance group upped the excitement of the whole audience by their feet-tapping and passionate performance on various famous tracks on Ganesh Vandana. Respected Principal Ma’am then shared her experiences of the festival and advised how teachers could play a role in the protection of our Mother Earth during such festivities. The program concluded with everyone singing the National Anthem. The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations was a joyous and exuberant experience who witnessed the event.

Learning Outcome:

  • The entire event helped the students to stay connected with the Indian roots.
  • The students understood the importance of celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi.
  • The students were connected with the stories of Hindu Mythology.

REPORT ON EDUCATIONAL VISIT TO MANI BHAVAN AND PRINCE OF WALES MUSEUM (CHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ VASTU SANGHRALAYA)

An educational visit was organized by our college for the F.Y.B.Ed. students to two of the famous places in Mumbai that is Mani Bhavan Sangrahalaya and Prince of Wales Museum(Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaaj Vastu Sanghralaya ) on 15th October 2022.

OBJECTIVES OF EDUCATIONAL VISIT
  1. To make students aware of the contribution of freedom fighters in our freedom struggle
  2. To make students aware of our rich Indian culture
  3. To provide them exposure to various art forms
  4. To provide them experience of organising an educational visit

A day before the visit, students were briefed about the educational visit by teacher Incharges and consent forms were submitted. As per the guidance of teachers incharges, students and other faculty members boarded the local train from Mira Road Station at sharp 9:11am which was a slow train from Bhayandar to Churchgate. After the train journey, all were instructed to assemble near the grant road ticket counter where attendance was taken at around 10:30 am.

After the attendance we reached our first destination i.e Mani Bhavan. There students were counted again and entry was given with help of group pass. As we entered the main gate, the library of Mani Bhavan was located on the ground floor itself. The library contained above 45000 books of various subjects such as political science, history, Indian Foreign Policy, sociology, philosophy, Congress history, economy, literature etc. Each subject was given different section in the library. The library had pictures and photo frames with quotations of Gandhi ji. After having a look at the library and its resources the group moved to the second floor. On the second floor to the left-hand side, there was a picture gallery depicting pictures related to life and contribution of Gandhi ji in India’s freedom struggle. Second floor also had exhibition of apparels, accessories and instruments used by Gandhi ji such as his glasses, sandals, Chakra, cloths, bed etc. In another room there were items he used during his jail term and also pictures of letters which he wrote, on the same floor a 20 minutes movie on Gandhi ji’s contribution in freedom struggle was shown in an AV room. The name of the movie was Quit India. The movie also depicted scenes of bravery by our great leaders. This movie helped in developing a sense of patriotism among students.

After the movie students were taken to the second floor where there were 3D models depicting stories of Gandhiji’s life. The models were very creatively and beautifully designed like real sceneries of those times.

After these students were given an one-hour lunch break and were asked to report to the Prince of Wales Museum at sharp 1:30 p.m.

Once all reached the gate, attendance was taken again and entry was taken with group pass. The Museum was very gigantic and was very beautifully constructed like the other old buildings of Britishers. The infrastructure was very detailed and pretty. There were many floors and rooms. Each floor had several galleries and each had their own specifications. Like on the second floor there was a painting gallery. The paintings were very beautifully drawn having deep meaning which was explained by a guide similarly there were also galleries related to ancient coins, textile of India, jewellery and ornaments of royal kingdoms, artefacts and wood sculptures of various Indian states. One gallary was also dedicated to specimens of birds and animals found in forest regions as well as one gallery was dedicated to the sculptures of God and Goddess of ancient times. The visit to museum was really helpful in making students aware of our rich culture and provide them with real experiences. After the tour a group photograph was taken and students were asked to go home safely.

LEARNING OUTCOME OF EDUCATIONAL VISIT:
  1. Students become aware of the contribution of Gandhi ji and other freedom fighters in freedom struggle of India
  2. Students were highly influenced by our rich Indian culture and heritage
  3. They got the exposure to various art forms and their importance in Indian culture

REPORT ON UPEDUCATORS

OBJECTIVES

  • To enhance the ICT skills of students
  • To make them aware of latest requirements of making E-portfolios

The Royal College of Education and Research for Women had organized an online workshop by  Google Upeducators on developing a professional website for teaching and learning for the students on 19th of November’2022. The session was conducted to enhance the quality of learning and teaching for the students as well enhancing ICT skills of students.

Adoption of technology in the field of education has been happening since decades, thus to help students keep pace with changing times a workshop was organized on website building for the students of S.Y.B.Ed.  MS. Sonam Chavan from Upeducators conducted an online session through zoom meeting wherein she taught how to develop a professional website for teaching and learning. In order to teach modern students, the teachers need to be adaptable and flexible towards the modern methods of learning and to develop the required skill sets. As well as it is important for future teachers to be digitally accessible to recruiters. This was the main objective of the session wherein at the end each of us learned something new about website building. Later the session ended with a quiz wherein the top scorer was given the scholarship from upeducators to do the courses which was given to Ms. Rupa of S.Y. B.Ed.

LEARNING OUTCOMES   

  • Students understood the importance of website building and its role in the real world.
  • Students gained knowledge about the weightage of website in a resume and different ways to enhance their resume.
  • Students become aware about ICT skills required for website creation.

Students learned about various technological skills required for website creation for placement purposes.
