The Cell organizes informal meetings with students to attend to their personal, social, and academic problems

1) To collect data regarding the implementation of the policies in respect of admission and scholarships.

2) To implement, monitor and evaluate continuously the reservation policy in college plan measures for ensuring effective implementation of the policy and programme of the Government of India.

MINORITY CELL

Royal College of Education and Research has established a minority cell to provide services to the educational and cultural needs of the Minority community along with other caste, creed and Nationality. The Minority Cell basically helps minority students including Christian, Muslim, Jain, Buddhists etc. for their academic development.

 

Objectives:

  • To ensure an environment that supports the diversity of religious and cultural beliefs of minorities.
  • To encourage the academic upliftment of minorities
  • To educate the stakeholders of the various scholarship schemes for minorities available under central & state government
  • To identity & counsel financially challenged minority students and forward their applications of education loans to the management for further
  • To ensure compliance with the reservation policies as applicable to minority institution

GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE

To promote and maintain a conducive and unprejudiced educational environment College has constituted Grievance Redressal Committee

The function of the committee is –

  • To analyse the nature and pattern of the grievances in a strictly confidential manner
  • To ensure effective solution to the students’ grievances with an impartial and fair approach
  • To check regularly and resolve grievances of students received in grievance boxes
  • To schedule meeting with students and teaching and non -teaching staff as and when required

General Procedure

Student with a genuine grievance may approach the mentor in person. If not resolved they are told to contact any member of Grievance Redressal Committee.

In case the student/ staff is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/ suggestion box.

INTERNAL COMPLAINT COMMITTEE (ICC) & PREVENTION OF

SEXUAL HARASSMENT CELL

The Sexual Harassment of Women at workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal ) Act.2013 was passed by the Parliament of India. The Act provides protection against Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace and for the prevention and redressal of complaints of sexual harassment and for the matters connected thereof with or incidental there to.

According to the Supreme Court guideline, Sexual harassment can be defined as “unwelcome” sexually determined behaviour (whether directly or by implication) as:

Physical contact and advances;

Demand or request for sexual favours;

Sexually coloured remarks;

Showing pornography; and

Other unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature. (Vishaka judgment by Supreme Court)

Objective and Role of ICC:

1) To take consistent action for prevention, prohibition and redressal of complaints received regarding sexual harassment and gender discrimination of women personnel at the workplace

2)  Make recommendations to the management to lay down procedures for the prohibition, resolution, settlement and prosecution of acts of discrimination and sexual harassment, by the students and the employees.

3)  Deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to the victimized and termination of the harassment.

4)  Recommend appropriate punitive action against the guilty party to the Management.

The Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of the College was constituted in June 2017 in accordance with The Sexual Harassment at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal ) Act.2013.

Complaint boxes have been placed at different places in college for the reporting of grievances

The college has tried to create awareness on the issue of sexual harassment by conducting workshops and lectures by lawyers and activists

Self-defense has been introduced for the empowerment of girl students.

The college Women Development Cell was established as per university directions, with a perspective that arises out of an understanding of gender equality in its entire ramification. All the activities are oriented towards gender sensitization, women empowerment and awareness.

Accordingly various literary and performing activities like essay writing, poster making, street plays, skits, debate, and guest talks by eminent speakers are organized round the year. 

To make them aware sexual harassment and build a conducive environment for the youth in the campus a complaint’s committee has been constituted.
